Our Christmas ‘Drop In’ session proved to be very popular with a record attendance. It was a very happy session with lots of chat and laughter, tea and homemade mince pies, Christmas crackers and activities. Some wonderful Christmas decorations were made with the guidance of an expert flower arranger whilst a small group enjoyed playing fiercely competitive dominoes. All the attendees were able to take a Christmas decoration home. Some beautiful Christmas ‘twiddler’ muffs were brought along by another volunteer for any carers to choose from if they wished.
Finally, as it was our Christmas session we concluded with some Christmas songs and carols.
Our next ‘drop in’ is Friday, 12th January, 2.15pm to 4pm, in the coffee lounge at Broadstone Methodist Church. All are welcome – carers, people with memory loss and older people.
One of the aims of our project is to work towards making Broadstone a Dementia Friendly Community. We have recently had some very attractive window stickers printed and there are already some on display in Broadstone shops and other organisations where staff have undertaken dementia friendly training. We need many more businesses and organisations to participate and display the window stickers to publicise that we are a Dementia Friendly Community. Please do contact Annette Brooke via this website for your free stickers if you feel that you already qualify as ‘dementia friendly’ or if you would like a short training session provided for your staff at a convenient time for you.
Tbe stickers have already been placed in the following locations in Broadstone :
